Shape & Size
The G-Wolves HTX Mini 8K is a small mouse measuring 109 x 60 x 35 mm. It has a symmetrical shape with a slight back hump. The front flares outward slightly, while the sides curve inward. Due to its compact size, the mouse generally fits best for fingertip grip users, though users with smaller hands may also find it comfortable for claw grip.
The standout feature of this shape is its exceptionally low button height. While many small mice attempt a low button height, few go as low as the HTX Mini 8K. I find that the smaller the mouse, the more I appreciate a lower button height, as it makes the overall shape feel more well-rounded. When small mice have a tall button height, my grip tends to feel unnatural, and I often need to adjust my fingers into a forced position. That's not the case with the HTX Mini, as I find the shape and size very comfortable for fingertip grip.
Coating & Grip-tape
Unfortunately, the coating on the HTX Mini 8K isn't very grippy. The mouse is extremely lightweight, so I was still able to move it around quickly without major issues. However, I often found myself readjusting my grip as it felt too slippery in many cases. Thankfully, the mouse includes pre-cut grip tapes for the main buttons, sides, and top. After applying them, my aim felt noticeably more stable, and my grip no longer slipped. I highly recommend using them.
Build Quality
Some ultralight mice compromise build quality to reduce weight. At just 27 grams, I was initially skeptical about the HTX Mini 8K's build quality. However, I'm happy to report that its build quality is excellent for the weight. While it doesn't match the solid feel of brands like Zowie, Vaxee, or Endgame Gear, whose mice typically weigh much more, it holds up very well. There's a slight flex in certain parts of the shell when applying strong pressure, but it doesn't creak and has no impact on everyday use.
Weight
As mentioned, the G-Wolves HTX Mini 8K weighs only 27 grams, making it one of the lightest mice on the market. Despite its small size, it features a full-sized shell that supports more than just fingertip grip, which is impressive considering many heavier mice are even smaller. The ultra-low weight makes movement easy and aiming feel effortless.
Buttons & Scroll Wheel
To achieve the low button height, the HTX Mini 8K doesn't use standard switches but instead low-profile Omron D2LS-21 mechanical switches rated for 20 million clicks. While they don't feel as tactile or spam-able as more common options like the Huano Transparent Blue Shell Pink Dot, they still perform quite well. The scroll wheel uses the TTC Gold encoder, which provides excellent tactility and feels similar to other mice that use the same component.
Sensor & Performance
The HTX Mini 8K is equipped with the PixArt PAW3395 sensor. While I would have liked to see the newer PAW3950 used instead, the PAW3395 still delivers flawless tracking. The 8K polling rate felt stable throughout use, and I experienced no issues while gaming.
Conclusion
The G-Wolves HTX Mini 8K is priced at $159, which is a premium price. However, it offers a completely new and original shape rather than copying existing designs. Its standout features include the extremely low weight of 27 grams and one of the lowest button heights available, both of which contribute to a unique and refined experience. If you're looking for a small, ultra-lightweight mouse with an exceptionally low button height, the HTX Mini 8K is a strong choice.
